PDLC smart film is a liquid-crystal film applied to existing glass or set inside laminated glass. Powered on, the glass is clear and transparent; at rest it turns opaque and screens the view. This is privacy on demand: a single surface does the work of both glass and blind, lets daylight in and keeps the space private. It is the form of switchable glass most people picture when they imagine glass that turns dark.
For screening sun and heat there is a darker variant in the same family: Blackout Hyper GlassOne electrical signal. No moving parts.
A thin liquid-crystal film runs between two conductive layers. With no voltage the crystals stay disordered and scatter light, so the glass looks opaque. Apply voltage and they align, and the glass turns clear. The switch is instant and can be controlled by switch, remote, app or automatically — like every switchable surface we supply.
