Glass walls for the office: privacy on command without giving up the light

Replacing a solid wall with a glazed one carries daylight into the heart of the open plan and makes the rooms feel lighter. The usual catch is privacy: a glass wall shows everything, without pause. With switchable glass the partition stays clear to share light and the wider view, and turns opaque only in the space and at the moment it is needed — without sacrificing, the rest of the time, the brightness that prompted the choice of glass.

A glazed meeting room is open and collaborative until something confidential has to be discussed. At that point the surface turns opaque and screens the room from outside view, with no blinds to lower and no panels to move. In its opaque state the glass diffuses the light: the room stays bright, but from outside no one can make out what is going on inside. Once the meeting is over, a single touch returns the glass to clear.

The choice depends on what you want when the system is off. PDLC is opaque at rest and clears only when it receives the electric input: suited to meeting rooms and spaces that should be private by default, with opacity — and therefore privacy — persisting even without power. PNLC follows the reverse logic — clear at rest, opaque under voltage — and suits spaces that stay open most of the time and need to be darkened only at chosen moments.

A single partition is handled with a switch. A whole floor — several rooms, multiple glass walls, shared areas — calls for orchestration. With B-LOGIC each surface is controlled individually or in groups, scenes are set for the start and end of meetings, and several spaces are managed from a single point. A single pane already works on its own: centralization is the added step, once the surfaces to coordinate grow many.
